Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about SapioChat — AI parental controls, safety, pricing, privacy, and how guided AI chat works for families.
What age is AI chat appropriate for?+
It depends on your family values and your child’s maturity. SapioChat supports age bands starting at 6+ with age-appropriate responses tailored to each level. For children under 10, parents have full conversation visibility. For children 10 and older, conversations are private unless the child chooses to share them. We recommend parental involvement at every age — AI works best as a family tool, not a solo one.
Can parents see what kids ask AI?+
By design, SapioChat balances trust and safety. For children under 10, parents can see all conversations. For children 10 and older, conversations are private unless the child chooses to share. If the safety system detects a concern, parents receive an alert — but for lower-severity events, parents only see a summary, not the actual words. For serious safety concerns, parents can see the flagged exchange.
How do AI parental controls work?+
SapioChat layers parental guidance on top of OpenAI’s language model. Parents configure family values, tone preferences, and safety settings through the dashboard. Every conversation flows through a policy engine that shapes AI responses to match your family’s guidance. It’s not just blocking — it’s steering the AI to respond in a way that reflects how you want your children to learn.
Is AI safe for homework help?+
AI can be a powerful learning companion, but it requires guidance. AI generates plausible-sounding answers — not guaranteed truth. SapioChat encourages kids to think critically rather than blindly accepting what AI says. The danger is not AI itself, but treating AI output as authoritative without verification. Like a study buddy, it should supplement — not replace — critical thinking.
What happens if AI gives my child bad advice?+
No AI system is perfect. SapioChat’s safety layers catch many problematic responses, but some may get through. We recommend parents talk openly with children about AI limitations. Our safety event system alerts parents when concerning content is detected. But the best safety net is an ongoing family conversation about how to evaluate information from any source — AI included.
How is SapioChat different from ChatGPT?+
ChatGPT is a powerful general-purpose AI, but it has no parental controls, no age-appropriate voice adjustment, no safety event alerts, and no family guidance layer. SapioChat uses the same underlying AI models but adds parent-configured guidance, age-band awareness, safety classification, tiered parent visibility, and message limits. Think of it as ChatGPT with guardrails designed specifically for families.
Does SapioChat read or store my child’s conversations?+
Yes, conversations are stored in our database so children can access their chat history and so the safety classification system can work. Chats are kept until you or your child deletes them — there is no automatic expiration. Parents can view shared conversations and safety events. We do not use conversation content to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
What does SapioChat cost?+
